Gelato Connect Logistics API gives you access to ship your non-Gelato orders via Gelato’s global carrier network. You will benefit from Gelato’s negotiated carrier rates shipping via Gelato’s carrier accounts. With over 50 carriers available you will have access for your non-Gelato orders to a range of shipping services both domestically and internationally.

The Shipping Order API enables you to request a shipping label for a specified Carrier and Method. Gelato will return the shipping label with tracking information.

Gelato Connect Logistics API is currently available to a limited number of Partners only. To register your interest and discuss the benefits available to you, please contact your Partner account manager.

Shipping Order Flow

  • Print partner sends a request via Gelato Shipping Order API to create an order for shipping.
  • Gelato will call the Gelato Carrier Network API to request a shipping label from the Carrier and Method for the package details specified in the request.
  • Gelato will send an API response back to the Partner within seconds from the shipping order submission.
  • If the shipping order has failed, Gelato will return with failure confirmation and an error message showing the reason for the failure.
  • If the shipping order is successful, Gelato will return with success confirmation, with a URL to retrieve the shipping label, and a tracking code. Depending on the destination of the shipping order Gelato might also return any additional documents like a commercial invoice.

Selecting the shipping carrier and method

As part of the set up and integration process, Gelato will define which carriers and methods are available for you. We will set up any rules required for carrier and method selection. Then in your request you will specify the Carrier and Method for the package.

Downloading a shipping label

A successful Shipping Order response will include a URL link to download the shipping label for the Shipping order. This is provided in PDF format. The link will expire in 24 hrs from the shipping order request.

Displaying your brand name on the label

It is possible to display your brand name, or the brand name of your client, on a shipping label. The availability of this feature is dependent on specific shipping carrier requirements and restrictions. As part of the set up and integration process, we can discuss your available options. If the option is available for a specific carrier you can specify the brand name in the clientName field in the request.
